Baby John,” directed by Kalees, is a Hindi-language action thriller and an official remake of the Tamil hit “Theri” (2016). Starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role, the film attempts to balance emotional drama with high-octane action. Despite its star power and emotional premise, “Baby John” struggles to fully captivate its audience.
The film follows DCP Satya Verma (played by Varun Dhawan), a righteous cop who goes head-to-head with Babbar Sher (Jackie Shroff), a corrupt and powerful politician. After a personal tragedy orchestrated by Babbar Sher, Satya fakes his and his daughter’s deaths to start anew as “Baby John” in a peaceful village in Kerala. However, their quiet life is disrupted when Babbar Sher discovers their whereabouts, forcing Satya to confront his past once again.
